The issue with the browser slowing down when you’ve got a bunch of tabs open still hasn’t been fixed in the latest update.
The last update didn’t do a thing about the browser slowing down. Just yesterday, I had like 15 tabs open, and the whole thing totally crashed on me—it just stopped loading pages altogether. So yeah, the problem’s still there.

I still have to turn off the extension whenever I need to open a lot of tabs. Yeah, sure, there’s a workaround—I switched to the Windows app—but it’s still a pain to use, since it’s running the old transcription model by default. They haven’t added GPT-4O yet, so I'm constantly running into mistakes, weird phrasing, and so on. That’s why sometimes I end up going back to the browser extension after all.

Hey, Web! When there's an update for the extension, the old files stay active in that tab until you refresh it. Once you refresh, it removes the old files and loads the new extension files. I think this might be what's happening in your case. Could you try restarting your browser or just refresh the tabs, and then let me know if it's still using a lot of CPU?
